Malagasy definition   Anaran-kazo [Rajemisa 1985]
English definition   an acacia-like tree, the wood of which is used in making musical instruments. The seeds were often used formerly in working the sikidy, as indeed is still the case among the Sakalava. In the days of bullfighting the root of the shrub was taken, pounded, put in water, and given to the bulls that were to fight, with the idea that it made them fierce. An infusion of the leaves is now used in cases of colic. Piptadenia chrysostachys, Bth. [Richardson 1885]
French definition   [Tankarana] nom d'une espèce d'arbre ; ses graines qui servent à la divination par le sikidy ; la divination elle-même. (volatsàra). [David 1952 (takila F)]
