Part of speech  2  noun (symbol)
Explanations in Malagasy  3 Tarehintsoratra fahafolo ary renisoratra fahafito amin'ny abidy malagasy. Nyh no miova hok amin'ny fanakamban-teny: mihinina hena =mihinan-kena. Amin'ny famoronana matoantenin'ny mpanao misy tovona man, dia alatsaka ny k amin'ny ft. ary dia akambana fotsiny amin'ny zanatsoratra manarakaraka ny man: man-kaikitra = manaikitra. [1.1]
Explanations in English  4 The tenth letter of the Malagasy alphabet. It is pronounced like k in English. It is sometimes substituted by h in the provinces, as hely for kely. When the preposition any is placed before words beginning with h, the y is rejected and the h becomes k, as: an-kiaka [any and hiaka].
5 In forming compound words k undergoes no change, but when a word ending in -ka or -tra is joined to another beginning with k, the -ka or -tra is rejected, as: kapokapoka [kapoka and kapoka], sarokibo [sarotra and kibo].
6 When i precedes k, the sound of i is repeated after it for euphony, as: mikapoka, pronounced mikiapoka.
7 When a root ending in -ka is made into a derivative passive verb, the k generally becomes h, as kapoka, a flogging, kapohina, to be flogged. In some instances, -fana or -fina is used, as: sesika, sesefana, etc. [1.2#306]
Explanations in French  8 Dixième lettre et septième consonne de l'alphabet malgache. Dans KA final, k devient ordinairement h et quelquefois f, dans la formation des participes et des impératifs: Satroka, satrohy, satrohana, isatrohana; Daroka, darofy, darofana. Après le préfixe MAN, k initial disparaît dans les formes verbales: Kaikitra, manaikitra; Kitikitika, manitikitika; Ketoketoka, manetoketoka; Ketsa, manetsa. [1.3]
